Bilingual Reading

Bilingual Reading

Language is the expression of culture and preserving our language is key to celebrating our roots. To this end, Dr. María Eugenia Zaldívar, Associate Professor at Kent State University works with a team of volunteers to offer children a bilingual reading program, in which they are encouraged to explore books through the dual lenses of their culture and the culture of U.S.

Age-appropriate books are presented and read in both English and Spanish with the help and guidance of volunteers. Children are encouraged to express their view about the readings using thier preferred language(s).
