At Proyecto RAICES we know that good habits begin early on. For this reason, we partner with the University of Akron, as well as other community partners to promote a healthy lifestyle.
The University of Akron collaborates through the administration of PACE Akron’s Way (Physical Activity/Tennis & Character/Health/Nutrition Education). This program seeks to challenge and reduce children’s health risk factors by providing screenings, educational information, tennis and other physical activities.
Dr. MaryJo MacCracken leads this initiative and, with the help of our great volunteers, brings “all the fun” to our sessions.
In addition, while in the program, our Chef, Sofía Montes, carefully prepares a nutritious and culturally relevant meal that children and volunteers often rave about.
